Being Real

Our friend Amber sharing her story!…so tender and sweet and authentically REAL! Enjoy reading! And re-posting!

As a perfectionist, I find myself creating at times unrealistic expectations for myself and even those around me. I have struggled with self-love and body image issues most of my life. Looking back, I can clearly see where it all went wrong. Whether it was a well meaning critique or sometimes a comment made by a loved one or relative, I was hard wired to examine and analyze just about everything. While this is one of my gifts, it has also been my kryptonite. A seemingly harmless sentence to some can alter reality for others. I remember when I was in high school being petrified to look in the mirror. I would use the restroom and keep my head down as I washed my hands afraid to face myself in the mirror. At that age, I had already decided that my life was not as valuable as others. I secretly…

Family of Origin

“Your father was an Amorite and your mother was a Hittite and on the day of your birth noone wanted you. You were thrown headlong into a field and noone even bothered to cut your umbilical cord.

But when I passed by, I saw you squirming in your blood and I called to you, ‘LIVE!’

Then I washed you, anointed you, clothed you, adorned and fed you!” Ezekiel 16

In my family of origin, I was both “wanted and unwanted”–my Mom called me “Charlotte Rose” and my Dad had gotten my name from a series of books that he was reading to my older brother and two older sisters. I expect they wanted a boy, as they wanted to name me after my “Uncle Charles”. When I was born a girl, they changed my name from “Charlotte Ann” to “Charlotte Rose” (naming me after the nurse who helped deliver me!)

Our 8th Annual “Tom & Sadie” Courtwright Family Reunion was just held at our homeplace in Aleppo, PA. This was a lovely occasion in gathering to honor our heritage and fill each other’s hearts with fun and fellowship, laughter and joy!

We each have had an occasion to either “Honor or Dishonor” where we came from–our family of origin. What will you do? Can you give honor to Father God for taking the time (before He laid the foundations of the earth) to think about you and your origin?!

Speak a blessing with me: “Father God, Thank you for my family of origin. I give you praise for the uniqueness of “Me!” Thank you for giving me a family to grow up in and share life with siblings (or not). Thank you for blessing our family. Grant each one to have a realization of their need of you. Give them a desire to be in your Presence daily. Grant that I can be a light to them and to our world. We give you praise for Your children, Heavenly Father. See to it that we all become “addicted to the service of the saints”! We are blessed in knowing You. Now let us be a blessing in discipling others in Your Way and Will! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”

The Year 5775: The Year of Advance

Defining Words

ayinhey[For returning readers, the first part of this post is a rehearsal of prior research.]

Sundown on Wednesday, September 24 marks the beginning of Rosh Hashanah or Jewish New Year. For the Jewish community, this is a time of reflection, purification and hopeful contemplation of the future. Not unlike our Western New Year’s celebrations, Rosh Hashanah is a time of recapping or regrouping in order to strategically move forward.

For the past month, I’ve heard the following declaration in my spirit. “God is on the advance.” Knowing this was somehow relative to the word for the year 5775, I could not wait to delve into the research you are about to read. While synthesizing the information, crystal clarity came on just how He will move in the days ahead. Prepare yourself for what will be a year of reorientation and permutation.

Shall we begin?

Remember, the Hebrew alphabet doubles as…

Ladies love T-A-N-S

Joy to you!

My first ever blog and I get to introduce it in the most effective way ever! Ladies Love Tans!–what tans, you ask?!

T-Tempered Body
A-Abundant Honor
N-No Schism
S-Same Care

According to the Holy Bible, and I Corinthians 12:24-25, “For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked: that there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.”

Our comely parts (that which is presentable) have no need (in other words, all their needs are being met in Christ Jesus our Lord and the saints at large)!
But God has tempered the Body together, meaning He’s taking His part and our part and putting them together to make a tight bond and an awesome fit!

Ephesians 4:15-16 says we are speaking the Truth in love, growing up into Him in all things, who is the Head, even Christ; from Whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted (knit together) by that which every joint supplies, according to the effectual (effective) working in the measure of EVERY PART, making increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in LOVE!

He’s giving MORE ABUNDANT HONOR to that part that lacked (including me! including you!)

…that there should be NO SCHISM (no division) (no divorce) (no dissection) in the body;

…but that the members should have the SAME CARE one for another!

Ladies Love T-A-N-S!
